Ladies Fellowship/Saug Baptist Mission, Olongapo (Thursday)

We appreciate Adi taking the time to do today’s update!

Happy Thursday from our team here in the Philippines! We started today with a delicious breakfast prepared by some of the girls here at the orphanage. We had garlic rice, fried egg, and sweet pork sausage. Following breakfast, Logan gave a devotion to the orphanage staff, missions team, and children, on diligence, comparing Lot and Daniel. Afterwards, most of the men went off to visit a couple local jails; while Jaken and Samuel, began preparing lunch for approximately 200 people. Us girls practiced “He Knows my Name” and “Power of the Cross” to sing during the fellowship and set up the church for the 70 ladies expected to join us! When the ladies arrived we began the conference with a special by all local the pastors wives. Then we played some games and had a message on “Inward Beauty” by Sierra. After a short break, we picked back up with a couple specials by our group of girls and a message from Mrs. Cirone. [It was interesting that Lance and Logan were able to meet a Pastor whose wife was attending the Ladies Fellowship–his first name was Lance and his middle name was Logan!] While we were enjoying the ladies fellowship; Jaken had been preparing Carbonara for everyone! With some help from Samuel, and some of the girls at the Children’s Home, as well as Sara, and I, lunch was served – and wow was it good!

After lunch, our group loaded on the buses to go clean and paint a church that was about an hour away. It was one of the more beautiful areas we’ve seen with tons of green trees and mountains! We worked hard, but never once did I hear anyone complaining. When we were part way through painting we had to pause because about 20 people from the surrounding area showed up for a quick church service. Our team introduced themselves in Tagalog and sang a couple songs, then Alexandr preached a message on the gospel, while Callie taught the kids. After service we were able to pass out some rice and other food for the locals who came to the service. By the time we loaded in the buses that evening the team was very hot and sweaty, so the leaders made the executive decision to take us to the beach. Every single one of us was excited to see the ocean and get a little break from a long day. We look forward to spending tomorrow at the Children’s Home with the kiddos!

Thank you for all your prayers. Also, we appreciate your patience with waiting to receive our updates as our ability to provide updates has been very limited due to the intensity of our trip. More to come…
