Saturday, May 31, Metro Independent Baptist Church (Quezon City)

So glad to also have Mike with us on Team Philippines for a 2nd year as he’s been a great blessing and help in everyway. Appreciate Mike taking the time to give us today’s update…

Today was amazing to say the least! We got to start off the day by visiting four of Metro Independent Baptist Church (MIBC)’s feeding ministries around Metro Manila. The kids (and even adults) were so excited to see us and to hear the word of God! It was such a joy to be able to watch Molly feed them spiritually with the story of the prodigal son and then be able to feed them physically with some food from the church. The pure joy on those kids’ faces as we blew up some balloon animals for them was priceless; you’d think we had just given them something worth millions of dollars, but it was something as simple as a rubber balloon. Really humbles you to think about how little they need to be happy and how much we take for granted. These kids have to go some days only getting one meal a day and even that one meal has to sustain their entire family until they can rummage through some garbage to find food again. And here we are in the states complaining that we got ketchup on a fast food burger when we ordered it plain while we have groceries at home. It really makes you think about just how good we have it.

After the feeding ministry, we were able to grab a quick lunch back at the church before introducing ourselves and giving our introductions in Tagalog for the MIBC Leadership Conference. I was blessed with the opportunity to give a devotional to 180+ ministry leaders before Dr. Cirone came up to speak and presented the challenge of “would God consider you” based on the life of Job. Dr. Cirone did a phenomenal job speaking on being a godly leader in ministry while the team was out at the local mall with some of the kids from the children’s home. Some of the younger kids were really quiet to start out but quickly warmed up to the team as the night went on. The kids were so excited to be able to spend time with the team and to get to go shopping and get some cool toys or spend some time in a little jungle gym in the mall.

To finish off this great day we are all packing our bags again because we are off to Subic Bay tomorrow night after church to begin our ministry to the Subic Bay Baptist Church ministries. God has been so good and I cannot wait to see what else He has in store for the rest of our time here.

Salamat po!
